In a recent story we reported that the popular Plex Channel for Roku will no longer be free for new users. Today we would like to explain how things will work going forward. The Plex channel, which is one of the top 10 official channels available for the Roku, provides Roku users with a stable platform in order to view local digital files (files from their own computers or hard drives) as well as a selection of content channels. In order to use the Plex channel it is necessary to download a free media server to a computer on the same network as the Roku.
One Time Fee For New Users
New users will have a 30 day free trial of the channel and then have an option to pay a one-time fee of $ 4.99. The singular fee brings the Roku channel in line with the app available through the IOS store and Google Play Store.
Early Adopter Bonus
Those who already have the channel installed on their Roku device will still have full access to its features as will Plex Pass members.
