Pitsburg faithPittsburg Faith Family Channel
24-7 feed of Christian programming. Channel is presented in standard definition. The basic idea behind the channel is to showcase churches in Pittsburgh PA to introduce them to people and market their communities. Channel also features a show called The Watchword Bible. It’s a church channel buffet.

If you did not grow up in a Jewish community and have always wondered what they were talking about on Saturday Mornings while you were watching cartoons this channel may be the one for you. It features live Saturday services as well as a large selection of the communities weekly services. One of few Jewish Religious channels I have run across on Roku.

Add Channel

The Pottery ChannelThe Pottery Channel
New channel based on an Internet focusing on selling pottery. The channel features a weekly show as well as the past week’s show. The weekly show is a lot like a shopping channel complete with product descriptions, ordering opportunities and a chance to meet the artisans.

Green Smoothie HabitGreen Smoothy Habit
I never understood how people drink those green thick smoothies, but now we can all learn to how to make them. Your host tells you how to choose the ingredients and mix them in a way that is nutritious. I can’t guaranty that they will taste good but maybe it will make you more healthy and hip. There are also catagories for other green vegie based recipes dips etc.

This was another small but strong list of Roku Channel Reviews. I could not have been more surprised with the Philly Cam which I expected to be a traffic camera or something. There is a science fiction channel bringing new content to the Roku as well as fishing tips and more classic Cowboys and Indians. Give the list a look and if you like what you read use the links to add them to your player.

Structure FishingStructure Fishing
30 min fishing lessons that teach viewers methods for catching certain types of fish complete with classroom style instruction and on the scene demonstrations of the methods. The videos give kids a lot of screen time which sort of takes away from the professional looking intros and editing.

Serenity PremiumSerenity Premium
I am a fan of their free channel which teleports viewers to beautiful locations with high quality video and audio. Is it worth paying a dollar a month for such an option. Only if it will make a major impact on your life. It it helps you or a fussy baby sleep at night it may be more than worth it. Not worth it for background noise.

Add Channel

American Cowboy ClassicsAmerican Cowboy Classics
This is collection of 34 silver screen films with a two viewing options. Users can chose which film to watch by scrolling through its listings or click continuous play to watch its selections binge style. The layout sticks with the theme very well and puts more thought into the presentation than a majority of public domain channels usually do.

Add Channel

Philly CamPhilly Cam
Well Thought out public access channel out of Philadelphia PA. Provides community discussions, music and independently produced content on numerous topics including cooking and art. There are 53 categories overall. It’s the most extensive community service/public access channel I have seen on Roku.

Add Channel

Horror Sci-FiHorror Sci-Fi Fantasy
This channel presents a leanback TV experience and provides exactly what it advertises. I expected to find another collection of ancient sci-fi movies but instead found what amounts to a late night movie channel featuring content you might have found right before the Local TV station signed off with the Star Spangled Banner.

TastemadeTaste Made
This is a fun take on cooking channels. The presentation is much more food network like, vs the many cooking channels on Roku that feel much more like video blogs. Each group of selections has its own personality. There are road trip shows, in the kitchen cooking shows and a lot more. But this is one of my favorite cooking apps in a while.
Add Channel

MyWhyMyWhyTV
This is a stunningly lacking channel. There are five video segments two are short trailers for the two 35 minute videos that are available. Another is a 25 second clip designed to get you to the organization’s website. And as of now that’s it. ……ok.

Add Channel

OrthodoxOrthodox Christian Network
Features three audio feeds. One is a talk radio station featuring topics related to the Christian Orthodox faith and its place in the world. One feed is liturgical church music and the third appears to be a foreign language feed. It is not explained via the Roku Chanel or the website. But I would call it is nice resource for those who practice this faith or even those looking to learn.

I Am Flix
Well developed offering 3000 available titles. The films are Christian leaning and  made with family viewing in mind. Some selections feature descriptions that encourage parents to watch it before they let kids see it. The service offers a free month, PPV options for 1.99 along with monthly and yearly plans Monthly Add free 5.99/7.99 yearly. 69.99/92.99
Add Channel

Art of SeductionArt of seduction
Channel where all of the featured content is romantic. Some of it the softer side of romance and some far more grown up. There are two tiers one free and one for $ 5.99 a month. Though there are some features listed in both sections the selections are different on the two tiers its not an add free v ads type deal. This is one of the more original concepts to be launched on Roku.

ShopTVShop TV
Just in time for Christmas comes  a channel that lets you shop from the couch. Users can purchase items through their phone and choose from themes like TV Shows “think New Girl Mug” and Celebs along with looking at online offerings from Target, Walmart and Overstock.com even search by brand. This is the sort of thing I expected with Amazon and Fire TV.

A channel with a live stream of a leadership development series available every 5th Saturday at 9am. You better hope you are reading this early or you will miss out until January.

This week brought us a great new Music Channel for Greatful Dead fans, some over the top theories about the immediate future of our planet, a host of re-branded channels from Future Today as well as the first of its type live stream of Muslim religious TV.

AlhikmatAlhikmat TV
This is a Muslim centered channel with a live stream of messages and Interfaith programs. The channel feed is clean but not well formatted for modern TV’s. Watching it feels no different than a regular TV channel. One of only a handful of Roku options for muslims.

Add Channel

Christ FamilyChrist Family Apostolic Network
Live feed channel featuring Christian sermons from the Christ Family Apostolic Network. Users can watch full screen live streams. Video is not HD quality but is stable and has good audio. This is not one of those camera feeds from the back of the room that dominate the spiritual listings on Roku.

Add Channel

Aliens and CowboysAliens and Cowboys
Not to be confused with the Sci-Fi Romp, the Cowboys and Aliens channel features public domain fair like a number of other Roku channels but this one is one of the few with the gaul to charge for the content. I would not spend too much time on this one. A good option instead would be Cape TV.

Add Channel

Vegas Sports AdvisrosVegas Sports Advisors
Part of a network of Vegas Sports Advisor channels and apps this channel provides fantasy sports and gambling participants with analysis to utilize ahead of the weekend games. The channel features TV studio shows and video blog styled information. Not a bad resource for the millions who participate in the activities.
Add Channel

BizarreBizarre
Channel that compiles various clips from around the web concerning pop culture news and social media trends. This channel is a fun way to kill a few minutes and some of the content is very well produced. Only 60 clips available overall at the moment, but it might be worth checking back on things.

An outgrowth of Anthony Trice.org. This channel contains 17 videos of Trice preaching. Each  video lasts about 30 minutes, not an amazing production value. Sort of public access quality. Sermons provide passage references.

This channel features 17 videos of Conley speaking at various mega churches. Each last around 28 minutes. Users can follow his sermons by watching and using their own Bibles to follow up on specific passages Provided on the screen.

Awsome Sci-FiAwesome Sci-Fi
2.99 is not too bad a price for an alphabetically organized sci-fi library. The most of the films or of pretty low quality but film buffs and sci-fi fans may well enjoy an easy to search database. Not exactly Netflix though.

Add Channel

CLassic Comedy ChannelClassic Comedy Channel
Another like the Awesome Sci-Fi channel. Collection of mostly very old public domain films organized alphabetically. Not If you had to buy all of these films for .50 each it would cost at least $150.00 that has to count for something right? No?
Yeah maybe not. This is dollar bin “quality” content friends.

Add Channel

SWC TVShiloh Word Chapel
SWC TV for videos from Shiloh word chapel along with a live feed not much else to say if that’s your church you just on the place to watch for videos from it. If it isn’t your church…. meh

Another one of those tourism and promotional channels for Roku. Features things to do besides go to theme parks Features four one-hour specials along with the series called  How To Do Florida. There is also a section on Florida cooking. I don’t know how specific it is to Florida. Much more about Florida outdoor life.

Roku Channel Listing Reviews

The Roku Channel Listing Reviews for this week feature a dose of social responsibility, some blatant money pandering and yet another channel offering content that it could not possibly have the rights to. A new sports feature on the block has a chance to be quite popular. Roku is redoing its website which has made it difficult to link these new channels to its site for adding them. We will keep an eye on this matter and add channel links when they are available.

This weeks Roku channel review features 16 new Roku channel listings. There are a few exceptionally well produced options mixed in with some decent to mediocre content as per usual. This week brings us the Google Play store, a well put together option for Christians along with new sports and family entertainment. As usual, add on links are provided for your convenience.

Your PhotosYour Photos Screensaver
I would not pay 1 cent for the right to look at my own photos as a screen saver. There are far too many ways to access this sort of function on Roku to justify charging for an app like this one. Watch out for total redundancy. Cost $2.00.
Add Channel

ArtcastArtcast Lite
This channel is essentially a nice screen saver. Choose from beautiful landscapes and nature scenes along with slide shows of art. The channel is add supported so things get broken up now and then but it is relaxing to look at or have on in the background for scenery.
Add Channel

Cowboy ChurchThe Cowboy Church Channel
This channel offers a state-by-state listing of “Cowboy” churches. One problem. There are 50 states listed and only three churches listed. One In North Carolina and two in …you guessed it Texas. The channel has a live linear feed that appears to be a not so bad bluegrass channel.
Add Channel

HeadwatersHeadwaters
On-demand style channel centered around a small church. There are around 14 sermons from the community. Its a bit hard to hear because of low recording quality but seems like it would serve its community well enough.
Add Channel

Google PlayGoogle Play
The very same app featured on Android devices. This channel is easy to navigate and has a large searchable library. Very polished. It comes with a free Movie, X-Men. The 2000 film that made Hugh Jackman a household name.
Add Channel

BacklightBacklight
Collection of documentary and reality material. Some of it leans towards black helicopter conspiracy thinking and when I say leans I mean there might as well be a black helicopter in its logo. Other content is meant to be educational. Small but promising. Would like to see more only about 20 titles.
Add Channel

IntelivideoInteli Video
Business tool for video content creators. Not really meant to be used as an entertainment channel as much as an interface for those who are already members of a service. Reminds me of the signs channel we took a look at recently. Don’t really even know why this is in the channel store.
Add Channel

The StarlostThe Starlost
Channel housing a forgotten 1970’s scifi series the Star Lost. This is a show that would be jeluous of the amazin effects from Tom Baker’s Dr. Who. Not a channel as much as it is a show. Very campy which is coming in to vogue. This show has hipsters and drinking game written all over it.
Add Channel

Toontime HDToontime HD
Misleading name guys. The content is hardly HD quality. The content is a throwback to 1960-70s Saturday morning content. Another option for those looking for constant streaming options on the Roku. You may even uncover a forgotten gem, but it may take a great deal of dredging to do so.

14 videos from the Now worship center featuring Sermons and teaching sessions. This looks like it was put together with a 1980’s era VHS video camcorder.

Benny Hinn Ministries
Collection of 15videos from small group discussion sessions and interview segments concerning Hinns world view. Benny Hinn is a well-known figure in some Christian circles who has been featured on syndicated TV for decades. The Roku channel is an extension of his TV based ministry.

The Carter Report TV
The Channel features 3 sections The Living Word (Discussion sessions on Carters viewpoints, Ask John Carter A Question (Short sessions where John Carter answers a question from a viewer while butchering tricky words for biblical scholars like “Israeli” He preaches about the bible right?) as well as the Carter Report In Action (footage from a huge event Carter held in Papua New Guinea.) Add Channel

Fotovire
The channel Requires users to link a Google Plus Account. The channel requires users to share photos with the user. It is not nearly as easy to use as the facebook app which pulls videos and pictures directly from a one’s facebook wall. I don’t see this one taking off. Too much work.
Add Channel

Fit Life
Two commercials precede each video so that means that there is almost as much time dedicated to commercials as there is her actual sessions. I honestly consider these too brief to be particularly helpful, especially her exercise videos which are just over a minute long. Feels like an ad grab to me compared to some of the many channels that offer full workouts from yoga to Aerobics.
Add Channel

Bible.is
This is a constant audio stream of the Bible in multiple languages. It is almost like a radio station that just features someone reading the Bible with music in the background. This almost gets it. Where it really lacks is that one can not chose what to listen to, book, verse etc. But I must applaud its multicultural approach.
Add Channel

Los Angeles Times
Short segments broken down by category. Featured subjects are Sports, Entertainment, Documenteries and Lifestyle. Most videos tend to last between 2-5 minutes. This sort of dampens the impact of the “documentaries” session.
Add Channel

Kudos for the Name. We just love plays on words here at The Streaming Advisor. The channel provides educational information about fishing including methods, tips and just great footage of the fishermen and their guests. Most sessions last about 20 minutes. The channel is broken in to 5 categories Conservation Corner, Gaff Life, Get Schooled, PTSS, and the Women’s PPTS.
Add Channel

Brite Flix
Features a small group of older movies some featuring major names from days gone by like Cary Grant and Mikey Rooney the most influential movie of all time, that’s right “The Sadist” staring Arch Hall. In general the channel is a mix of actual golden-age nuggets and fare that would be best viewed in the not so distant future with a group of robot friends. The Sadist was big right?
Add Channel

WCFT TV – 68
WCF stand’s for We’re Christian Family Television. The channel is a 24 hour stream of programming discussion the Bible. The channel has a public access feel and look. Video and audio is a little shaky at times.
Add Channel

New Children Channel
No not a kids channel. I know doesn’t sound like it is from the title? This is a totally random group of Christian themed programming presented with little context or logic. Some videos are incredibly choppy like they were produced by filming a TV playing a videos recorded from a non cable TV in the 80s. You must see The Country Christmas….. or not.
Add Channel

Jesus Kids TV
There is an introduction from the captain of The Titanic, well make that a man who plays the captain of The Titanic. The channel has a large collections of videos featuring puppets, music cartoons and presentations on bible principles. Feels a little thrown together with videos from multiple sources and eras.

This week in our Roku Channel Reviews we are starting something new with out channel reviews. We want to give every channel a chance to shine but there are a number of channels each week from church organizations that give us nothing to review other than to say this channel provides a one hour long live feed of its weekly service. From this point on any channel that matches that description will not receive its own review. We will still list the new church channels but all in a group with that basic description. Communities that present a full channel experience will receive their own reviews for instance this week we feature Stone Water Church, a channel with multiple videos and an organization structure.

This channel is a very niche channel as so many on Roku are. But if your niche is video games it may be a great one to add. Their website features reviews and game news from across the spectrum from casual games to first person shooters. There are a number of other game news sources on Roku.
Add Channel

Trivia ChannelTrivia Channel
Promises 500 plus trivia questions for .99. I wonder how often the questions are updated. 500 questions really is not that many if you are a true trivia fan. I think of this like buying a cheap road trip game from the dollar store. Great for a stacation.
