The new leaders at the top of Warner Media with the emergence of Discovery Warner may be looking to change the company’s original plans for a Batgirl movie. in 2021 the prevailing wisdom was that building out the DC Extended Universe through HBO Max was a winning formula. But a new group in charge means new ideas are on the way. And the DC film unit is seen as an important part of the new brand.
In that light, Movieweb is reporting that the upcoming Batgirl film may debut on the big screen instead of the small screen as originally planned. As part of the DC Extended Universe, the film would fit right in with other releases like The Flash and Black Adam.
