Top Gun Maverick (Paramount+)
Top Gun Maverick is the long-awaited sequel to the iconic 1980s hit Top Gun. The movie is credited with making 2022 the summer blockbuster season relevant and was a top draw on the premium on-demand charts until dropping onto its new home at Paramount+. If you have not checked it out yet why the heck not?
National Treasure Edge Of History (Disney+)
The new series for Disney+ is a sequel/continuation of the original movies that starred Nicolas Cage. While Cage is not associated with the new series (at least so far) as a character the show does feature other actors reprising characters.
The Menu (HBO Max)
The Menu is cooking on HBO Max. The Dark Comedy/Thriller features a great ensemble cast and a somewhat deranged cast of characters. The story comes of a bit like a one-act play with almost all of the action taking place in the midst of an exclusive dining room. The plot is deliciously devious and served with a side of schadenfreude.
Nope is a psychological thriller from Jordan Peele. It is part alien story, part hunter becoming the hunted, the sci-fi entry continues to build Peele’s reputation for making you jump, yell at the screen and ponder all at the same time.
Jurassic World Dominion (Amazon)
Jurassic World Dominion is the latest in a saga of movies that have entertained action lovers for years. This film brings together the stars of both the original groundbreaking movie Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern and Sam Neill together with Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard in a fun wrap-up to what has become a decades-long series.
Bullet Train (Netflix)
The sleeper hit of the summer, Bullet train stars Brad Pitt as an assassin stuck on a train where he has to dodge obstacles and pull off his own seemingly impossible mission in tight quarters. The movie flew a bit under the radar this year but is building a strong reputation over time.
