Disney Catches Netflix

Disney finally did what no other streaming company could. It surpassed Netflix’s subscriber numbers. The company reported 221 million subs last quarter. But those numbers represent Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+. Known as the Disney Bundle the three services are included with Hulu with Live TV along with being sold as a standalone bundle for 12.99.

Still though, the numbers show that the approach is working. The company also finally laid out what to expect with its ad supported tier coming this December.

Disney+ with ads will cost $7.99 per month, the same price the company now charges for the ad-free version, Disney said in a statement on Wednesday. The cost of Disney+ without ads will increase by $3 per month to $10.99 as of Dec. 8.

There will also be a one to $2 increase for Hulu. With plans to increase the cost it doesn’t look like Disney plans to shutter the service anytime soon.
