Thursday Night Football Gets Multiple Emmy Nominations

Well, the games may have been badly played, but the performance of the team bringing us the action was exemplary.  Prime Video was nominated by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in seven different categories within the upcoming 44th Annual Sports Emmy Awards, including five for the inaugural season of Thursday Night Football. The winners will be announced live during a ceremony at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall on Monday, May 22. Thursday Night Football, Good Rivals and Coach Prime are available as part of Prime membership, where members enjoy savings, convenience, and entertainment, all in a single membership.

Thursday Night Football, an Amazon Prime Video exclusive this season, earned nominations across several prominent categories, including Outstanding Live Series, Outstanding Personality/Play-by-Play category for Al Michaels, and Outstanding Digital Innovation for Prime Vision with Next Gen Stats, the TNF alternate stream featuring real-time graphic overlays and Next Gen Stats powered by AWS.  The addition of the next-gen stats feeds made the game feel more interactive overall.

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences also recognized Prime Video’s growing and robust slate of sports documentary content with two nominations. Good Rivals, the docuseries featuring one of the most unique and intense competitions in international sports, the rivalry between the Mexican and American men’s national soccer teams, was nominated for Outstanding Documentary Series. Coach Prime, the four-episode docuseries that took viewers inside Deion “Coach Prime” Sanders’ Jackson State University football program that shook up the entire college football landscape, was recognized for Outstanding Documentary Series, Serialized.

“These nominations emphasize the innovation, creativity and commitment of the entire Prime Video sports team, including our incredible Thursday Night Football debut and our outstanding original sports content,” said XX. “Congratulations to the entire team on this well-deserved recognition and honor.”
