What Is Airy TV?

Airy TV is a newcomer to the field of ad-supported streaming content or ad supported video on demand (AVOD). You will be seeing that acronym a lot over the next few years. Airy TV is one of a number of services built to deliver Internet based media legally and easily to viewers with an eye towards aggregating content so that users can find free shows and movies to watch without having to bounce from one random website to another. And while you might think that if it is free, then it is probably not all that interesting to you, I might ask you to rethink that.

Airy TV streams a wide array of content to fit multiple audiences with a healthy dose of old game shows.

The content on Airy TV is all over the map but stands up very well especially for the baby boomer audience and generation X which has seen swift growth in the cord cutting world as people have begun to retire and cut expenses. Like similar services, Airy TV pulls together content from content providers with huge libraries of shows and movies both from long ago and say within the last 15 years. The service is set up using a traditional programming grid that feels like the good ole fashioned TV grids found on cable TV packages and even modern OTA channel interfaces. There are multiple rows broken down by genre like Sports, News etc and others based purely on specific things or shows. For instance, there are channels based on the Greatest American Hero and Bob Ross (the happy tree painter), as well as channels built to deliver cartoons from the 1980s and 1990s. There are also content libraries that get a further breakdown. For instance Airy TV has a feed of BZZR the classic game show network that has been showing up on streaming services all over the place but at the same time it offers a curated channel of just The Price Is Right episodes. There are numerous others and every reason to think that others will follow.

The company behind Airy TV is a classic start up called Showfer Media. The LLC based out of the Seatle area of Washington State (Lynnwood WA) has 10 employees. They currently have deals with BZZR and MYTVTOGO and find free to distribute content from other sites like YouTube. Looking at Airy TV right now is almost like watching Pluto TV start all over again. The company, which is now a big player in the future of the TV industry, began as a startup delivering content from small partners and curating YouTube feeds. The truth is that there is a lot more good free content available on YouTube than many could possibly know. So just pulling from that site alone allows the app to deliver hours upon hours of content.

Airy TV has apps for Android, IOS, Android TV and the Fire TV OS. There is currently not an app for the Roku or Apple TV. Users can also find Airy TV via the web here.
