Get ready to lose 4k streaming. The EU has already asked Netflix and other big name streaming companies to roll back their speeds. It will happen here too. The push towards 4k streaming has not been market driven. It’s been more about seeming like companies were forward thinking. But in reality no normal person looks at 1080p and thinks, “What’s this crap?”.
As broadband Internet begins to become more and more utilized in homes as we transition to lock downs and working from home Internet providers are going to be taxed more by usage needs. And providing dependable signals will be affected by traffic over all.
It’s important for us all to realize that little changes like this are nothing to hem and haw over. Next year’s CES will probably feature 16k TVs and 10G phones. But for the time being we might need to take a step to the left and shake to the right and time warp to way back to 5 years ago when HDTV’s seemed out of the price range for most families.
