The term Smart TV’s is getting a little bit old fashioned in todays market. The idea of a smart TV started when TV’s began to have computer apps built in to the system whether they were apps stores and browsers or stand alone apps like Netflix. The term became an easy way to explain what was happening because people already had adopted the word smart phone to describe Android and Apple phones. Now most TV’s sold have apps. But at the Streaming Advisor we Smart TV’s to differentiate between categories and specify that we are referring to apps built into TV’s. People looking to increase streaming options or get into cord cutting need to look into what they can already do with their TV before rushing out and getting a new box or streaming stick.
