The Fire TV has a lot of interesting capabilities for those who want to replace their cable TV experience. Over time the company has been working in more and more ways to access live TV through its interface so that users do not have to bounce in and out of apps to see what they want.
Fire TV’s Live tab is unique in the streaming business. It allows users to set up their streaming device almost like a cable box. It will allow you to integrate multiple live TV services into one interface. The system started with support for Sling TV. But it has since added support for YouTube TV and Philo. We would expect to see more. Along with that, the system will also allow users to integrate channels that they have subscribed to via the “Amazon Channels” row. There are lots of premium cable channels and other Internet based services that are available to add to the grid.
The Live tab even works with Pluto TV, the free streaming option. Once a user has fully signed in to each service they can be synced together and displayed however a user likes. Users can create a favorites list that can be accessed separately and even choose which channels will be displayed in the meta guide from any participating service. See the video for more information.
