Rings Of Power, a story that takes place in an earlier age of Middle Earth than anyone has seen on screen in the popular movies from Peter Jackson will be streaming on Amazon’s Prime Video service this September. And if the first trailer for the series is any indicator the series will be of an epic scale.
The highly produced look of the landscapes and CGI harkened straight back to the award-winning Lord Of The Rings trilogy as well as Jackson’s later Hobbit series.
The Rings of Power is at least being promoted as a totally separate examination of the History of Middle Earth not involving the characters who were the focus of the earlier set of movies or the novels they were based on, though Galadriel, an Elf who appeared in both movie series is heavily featured in Amazon’s trailer.
Despite the fact that so many publications refer to the upcoming series as “Amazon’s Lord Of The Rings Series” Rings of Power has not been promoted as a reboot or retelling of the story of Frodo Baggins and the Fellowship of the Ring.
