Following the recent international sensation of addictive, BAFTA Award-nominated Welsh dramas Hidden and Keeping Faith, Acorn TV premieres the gritty family drama BANG on Monday, October 15, 2018. From the producers of BBC/Netflix hit series The Fall and BAFTA award-winning writer Roger Williams (Tir), the eight-part series was recently nominated for five BAFTA Cymru Awards, including one of only three nominees for “Television Drama” and “Writer.” Bang follows an ambitious police officer Gina Jenkins (Catrin Stewart, Doctor Who, Misfits, Stella) and her troubled brother, Sam (Jacob Ifan, Cuffs). When Sam gets ahold of a gun, he sets off on a crime spree that endangers not only his life, but also his sister’s future in the force. Bang premiered on S4C in September 2017 with a second series in development. Filmed entirely on location in Wales, the series is bilingual in English and Welsh. Called a “glorious streaming service… an essential must-have” (The Hollywood Reporter), Acorn TV is North America’s largest streaming service specializing in British and international television from RLJ Entertainment (NASDAQ: RLJE).
In the steel town of Port Talbot, loner Sam (Ifan) has his life transformed when he comes into possession of a gun and starts to break the law. His ambitious policewoman sister Gina (Stewart) is paid to uphold the law and makes it her mission to find the owner of the weapon. The family saga plays out against an inquiry into the shooting of a local businessman that raises questions for Sam and Gina about their father’s murder when they were young children.
The series also stars Suzanne Packer (Keeping Faith), Jack Parry-Jones (Our Girl), Sarah Lloyd (The Indian Doctor), Nia Roberts (Hidden) and Gwyneth Keyworth (Black Mirror).
