Reality streamer, Discovery+ will start offering its ad-supported version of the service in England and Ireland as it looks ot expand the footprint of the service throughout Europe. The streamer, which offers a huge library of content from across 20 different networks including full runs of hundreds of countless shows and original content has proven to be a big hit in the US and is likely a good fit in Europe where reality TV actually appears more popular than it is in the US. American viewers may not know that hits like Big Brother were actually imports from Europe.
Discovery+ was already available in England and Ireland as an ad-free service, but the company hopes to see the kind of pop it has on this side of the pond that shows viewers respond well to having the option for light add loads for a lower price on a service. This has been the pattern for Discovery in the US along with Hulu. HBO Max recently launched an ad-supported tier which has shown itself to be a big success as well.
