Roku has become a distributor of original content thanks in no small part to the purchase of the content produced by the infamous failed streaming service, QUIBI. Industry rumors say that Roku may have its sights set on the premium TV channel and streaming service Starz as it looks to expand its offerings through the Roku Channel, which has since the purchase of QUIBI’s content moved on to producing its own content through the renewal of shows like A Most Dangerous Game and a Christmas movie based on Zoes Extraordinary playlist.
Next TV is reporting that Roku is partnering with Apolo Global with an eye towards aquiring Starz, which is owned by Lionsgate. Observers may remember that Roku recently announced a partnership with Lionsgate which will bring its films to the streaming platform after they play on Starz. If the move works out the whole arangement will be a family affair of sorts.
