Frog Fathers: Lessons from the Normandy Surf
“Frog Fathers” depicts Four Navy SEAL veterans and their visit to the beaches of Normandy, France paying homage to the bravery and valor of their predecessors who participated in the World War II invasion. As this year marks the 80th anniversary of the battle, these veterans explore the sacrifices made by their brethren and its significance as it relates to modern armed service. The SEAL vets also examine the legacy of the battle, what it means to them, and what they hope to pass down to future generations of veterans.
Developed in collaboration with FORCE BLUE, this project showcases Wargaming’s continued efforts to preserve naval history. The film was screened earlier this month at a special event in New York City. After the showing, a panel moderated by World War II expert Claire Barrett discussed the making of the film with star Steve “Gonzo” Gonzalez, Director and Editor Bob Whitney, Wargaming’s Regional Publishing Director Artur Plociennik, and narrator, actor John C. McGinley.
“Frog Fathers: Lessons from the Normandy Surf” is available to watch on MagellanTV and World of Warships YouTube channel from June 4, 2024.

Relieve D-Day through Operation Neptune historical game-mode
To mark the 80th anniversary of this historic storming of Normandy, three new Operations are sailing into the game, alongside a brand new Normandy port. Lasting two weeks each, this new event battle type allows up to six players to compete in a division using Tier V-VII ships. Rewarding those who complete missions in addition to these Operations, players will receive Stars, which can be used to unlock special progression tracks containing rewards including historical Commanders, camouflages, and patches.
The first of these Operations kicks off on 29 May, and tasks players to command an Allied vanguard on its approach to Utah Beach. Enemy forces defend the location, and it’s up to players to suppress the coastal defence and safely dock the beach.
