Variety is reporting that the Netflix commentary show Patriot Act With Hasan Minhaj’ has been cancelled by the service.
“‘Patriot Act’ has come to an end. I got to work with the best writers, producers, researchers, and animators in the game,” said Minhaj’ “My 2 babies were born and grew up with the show. TY to @netflix and everyone who watched. Now it’s time to return these screens to Best Buy.”
The show was a proven success as far as most measurements and garnered an Emmy award but as evidenced by other cancellations in the genre, the talk show format does not fit in with Netflix as well as others have. Similar topical shows, for instance The Break With Michelle Wolf,” and “The Joel McHale Show With Joel McHale” have gotten cancelled after one season.
