Amazon as expected will be launching new Fire TV products and a new interface for the Fire TV home screen that promises to make it feel less cluttered and easier to use. The new home page has let options to cycle through and helps users get in to their own profiles and live TV easier than it is currently set up. The push seems to be to make the Fire TV flike the Cable box of the future future.
The chief product announcements include the Fire TV Stick Lite which is advertised as being 50% faster than the current 1080 Fire TV stick. The new model will not include volume buttons for the television but will deliver full HD for $29.99. Amazon will also be selling a new version of the standard Fire Stick for $39.99. This version includes the power and volume buttons for controlling your existing TV. Again the device will have a new processor that makes it 50% more powerful than the previous generation. The new models will support HDR and Dolby Atmos if your TV and speakers support them.
Both products will feature the new Amazon Home screen.
Will I get the new home screen on my existing Fire TV?
Amazon announced that the new home screen will be rolled out as part of a software update in the first quarter of 2020.
Pre orders for the new product are underway with delivery expected by september 30th.
