Reports in Variety say that Peacock is ordering up a new series based on the popular Top Chef competition show. “Top Chef Family Style” will feature young chefs teaming up with an adult family member to compete and prove their culinary skills. That will present a different look than most cooking competition shows which typically feature one overmatched competitor flailing on their own.
Top Chef Family Style won’t be the only cooking show on Peacock. A new show “Baking It” will feature contestants baking comfort foods who are judged by what Peacock is calling 3 real grandmas. One can only imagine what the streamer will pull out of the hat on this one. Baking It will be a 6 episode holiday time show. Get ready for some cobblers and baked macaroni and cheese.
The moves come as Peacock looks to expand on its exclusive offerings as it angles to find a niche in the growing streaming landscape. Along with the cooking shows Peacock will also roll out a third season of American Ninja Warrior Junior and “Below Deck Down Under” which will highlight the stories of workers on a super-yacht in contrast with the lives of the people actually enjoying the ride.
