Sling TV is rolling out a new feature that will allow users with the AirTV Mini to integrate Locast based channels into its programming grid. This form of integration is a first of its kind breakthrough that could solve the problems of receiving local channel affiliates for millions of people who live in places that have trouble drawing a signal from TV transmitters via an antenna. Sling TV has allowed users to stream their local channels through their guide that integrates OTA channels with their Internet-delivered cable channels for years (via the AirTV Tuner), but until now Locast could only be accessed through its own app.
Keep in mind though, this feature is available to users of the AirTV Mini streaming device, not the OTA tuner. The AirTV Mini is an Android TV-based streaming device built to launch into a specialized version of the Sling TV app. Therefore at the moment, Locast integration is not available to all Sling TV users.
