Surprising Hotbed For Free Plex Streaming

Plex users are highly engaged in Canada where the free app’s users tripled their viewership reflecting gains in both users and minutes watched year-over-year. 76% percent of Canadian engagement was with streaming content and more than half (52%) tuning in to free ad-supported TV (FAST).

The app began as a way to share and access locally stored digital media content but has been growing its freely available streaming as a source of income by encouraging users to take advantage of both traditional video-on-demand options as well as via a digital TV grid option that was early to the market in the country enabling it to establish itself as a free option with little competition.
