Top Gun Maverick roared to number 1 at the box office and dominated the summer. Upon its release as a streaming title on-demand, it did the same thing taking the number one slot for at home premium viewing. One discount later and the high flying sequel is back at number one again as, available at a new sale price on Vudu. The film topped far more recent releases in the top ten including Beast, which is also available via Peacock.
Among other notable titles on Vudu’s top ten list are George Miller’s Three Thousand Years of Longing starring Idris Elba and Tilda Swinton, newly available for purchase, and Spider-Man: No Way Home –Extended Cut, featuring more than 11 minutes of new and deleted scenes from the original.
The week’s top-selling TV series continues to be HBO’s House of the Dragon: Season One, with Vudu offering the first season in 4K UHD.
Video on-demand in general has remained very popular even as multiple streaming services have launched because it gives users who may shy away from movie theaters a chance to see buzzy titles quickly instead of waiting for their window to allow them to show on a subscription service.
