Plex has updated its app on Roku and other platforms. The update is not nearly as dramatic as the one the modernized its look and feel recently. The most obvious changes are the ones that make it easier to discover content within the live TV grid. Plex added a live TV function to its app as part of a move to make the app more than just a way to organize personal media. But until now users had only one way to scan through the live/curated grid. Scrolling up and scrolling down. In a major new update, the Plex Live TV section added a menu that spans the top of the screen that offers numerous genres that allow users to pull up selections of channels according to their category.
Plex also updated its music options recently with a sorting system that the company claims will allow the AI to recommend music based on feel and commonality otherwise unnoticed by basic genre breakdowns.
With media organization ability, the ability to access and share collections remotely, a growing on-demand movie and TV show section, music service, and its own free live streaming options Plex continues to grow its presence as an all-in-one shop for streaming entertainment.
