Xbox Just Got More Cord Cutter Friendly

XBOX has been a premier video game console since it first hit the market with its awkwardly giant controller. And as streaming has grown in scope and popularity XBOX adapted to provide its customers with the ability to pull in options from sports services to the most popular services in the country like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, Disney+ and HBO Max.

The XBOX is not nearly as loaded with streaming options as a dedicated streaming device, but it features the ones that get by far the most buzz and attention. If it features a show everybody is talking about it is usually found on XBOX as well. Why doesn’t it list thousands of apps like a Roku or Fire TV Stick? Because that is not what motivates XBOX owners to buy the device in the first place. They buy-in because they want to be part of the interconnected high-end gaming community.  But along the way when they want to take a break from the latest hot title or Madden game, they may want to kick back and check out that new MCU Show, or The Witcher. XBOX delivers these kinds of options perfectly. But as the streaming world has grown far beyond Netflix, the ability to find what is out there and where has grown more challenging. Luckily a new tool has been released to help XBOX users find more to watch and where. That tool is Justwatch.

Justwatch is a website and app that searches multiple services at once to tell users where they can find specific titles. The best thing about the app is that a given selection will be matched up with the apps that have the show or movie and if it is available on an XBOX app it will be shown. Users can then download the app to their device or if it is already on it, launch it.

The app gives XBOX users a chance to search in a cross-platform way like users of dedicated streaming devices can. That means when someone says oh have you seen “____” they can pop into justwatch and see where to find it. This does not mean they will be able to see it for free, but it at least means they can find out where it is. Justwatch is not limited to searching dedicated movie and TV show apps. It also searches cable replacement apps like fubo TV. There are a lot of movies on demand on cable replacement services that we can miss out on for lack of looking.

The move to add Justwatch makes the work of finding something to stream so much easier than it was before because users have a starting point that delivers content with no agenda. The Justwatch App is free to download from the Microsoft store and does not require a membership to use. See our video demo for more info.
