YouTube, which has been offering free movies with ads for a few years now, has entered the TV show space with a similar offering. The shows are available via the traditional YouTube app, not the “YouTube TV” paid live cable replacement service. Tlevision app users can find the free TV selections via the menu on the left side of the screen in the heading Movies and TV.
The company’s initial launch of free TV includes 4000 episodes of shows from a variety of genres not dissimilar to what user find on other free ad-supported services. It is an opportunity for YouTube to get in on the game that other services like Pluto TV made famous even before it became part of the Paramount family. Youtube says it plans to add 100 titles a week for US viewers.
