Freevee is flexing with a new deal featuring TV chef Jamie Oliver. The new Freevee channel will feature all of Oliver’s popular cooking shows for the first time all in one place. Highlights include American Road Trip, 30 Minute Meals and Jamie’s Kitchen. Studies continue to show that viewers are getting more comfortable with free content supported by ads as well as ad supported subscription services. Discovery+, which also features numerous cooking shows has both an ad-supported tier and commercial-free.
“The launch of The Jamie Oliver Channel provides an excellent opportunity to reach new audiences around the world,” said Fremantle International CEO Jens Richter.
Freevee, Amazon’s entry in the free TV space will not be the exclusive home of Oliver’s channel. According Richter who was quoted in The Hollywood Reporter, like others in the space viewers will likely see his cooking expertise across a number of aggregators. The service is on its third name after beginning life as FreeDrive and then IMDV TV.
