How do you know a movie is a hit? If people are willing to pay for it before it drops onto a streaming service. Well at least that can be one way to tell. And by that measure, which I just came up with off the top of my head, Dune 2 is a big hit. In a more traditional measure, the movie has grossed over 700 million globally. The franchise so far has raked in 1.2 billion. And if that seems small for a two film total just keep in mind that Dune came out essentially right after covid vaccines became widely avaialable and people began to venture out again.
Dune: Part Two cemented its place at the top of the streaming chart on Fandango at Home, Fandango’s on-demand streaming service, for the third consecutive week. Kung Fu Panda 4 (#2) and Arthur the King (#3) round out the top three for the week of April 29 – May 5.
