Well now we can check that box off. Yahoo will be streaming in market NFL games next season via its Yahoo Sports app. Sports streaming has been plagued since the beginning of sports streaming services, with the inability to offer local pro teams to customers. For instance, If you have NFL Sunday Ticket and you live in New York, you can not use the service to watch The New York Giants and New York Jets. MLB TV users who live in LA cannot watch the LA Dodgers.
If we understand Yahoo’s announcement, this is going to change starting next season. According to AZ Central, beginning next season, users will be able to stream in-market and national NFL games, including preseason, regular season, playoff games and the Super Bowl on the Yahoo Sports app regardless of mobile network.
There has been no indication that users would have to sign in via a cable company login. We should all keep an eye on this though because not mentioning it does not mean that it is not required.
The games will be available through IOS and Android apps. At the moment there has been no announcement of Yahoo Sports apps for home streaming platforms like Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV or Android TV.
