Heck, as a prank of sorts one of our local radio stations played it nonstop on a loop for an hour or so in early November. The reactions by the public were rather interesting. But it turns out that if you are tired of the song, you might be in the minority. Spotify announced that Mariah Carrey’s hit was streamed 21.27 million times a day ahead of Christmas. This was the biggest peak in Spotify history. It also ranked number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 giving Carey the distinction of being the first woman with three songs that have led the chart for double-digit weeks.
“All I Want For Christmas Is You” has sold over 14 million copies worldwide, and is the best-selling holiday song by a female artist, as well as one of the best-selling physical singles in music history.
