Microsoft Could Target Netflix in 2023

Reuters is reporting that Netflix may well be the target of an aggressive Microsoft in 2023. Microsft has purchased a number of high profile companies in the past 10 years including the $2.5 billion acquisition of the company behind the hit game Minecraft, LinkedIn for $26 billion and speech recognition and artificial intelligence software developer Nuance for $20 billion.

The idea of Netflix being under the auspices of a company like Microsoft might scare users who would be afraid that it would affect which platforms the streaming service would be available on. But its the fact that Netflix is everywhere that makes the service attractive to the maker of Windows and many other iconic products including Xbox. The thinking behind the purchase it that it would allow Microsoft to reach millions of people with a new game streaming service.

Dropping a video game streaming service into Netflix would mean hundreds of millions of customers would automatically have access and exposure to the service saving Microsoft untold amounts of marketing dollars. It would not be a seamless move of course as the service is not currently set up for video games but that would be up to software and hardware people to figure out. And Microsoft and Netflix have a few of those around.

This is worth paying attention to in 2023.
