XUMO today announced it has signed a U.S. distribution and licensing deal with MPI Media. As a result, XUMO has launched two exclusive single series channels based on popular TV shows and franchises. The two franchises could not be more different but will have the effect of bringing in two completely different audiences. One of the shows is the 1960’s nostalgic favorite Family Affair which should appeal directly to older baby boomers who grew up with Sebastian Cabot’s “Mr. French”. Also starring Brian Keith, the show was sort of an early version of Full House. The Family Affair Channel will feature 138 episodes from seasons 1-5.
The other new channel, which goes in quite a different direction is a channel dedicated to “Girls Next Door”, a reality show built around Playboy Models that launched the pop culture fame of model Kendra Wilkinson. Wilkinson built on her notoriety by spinning off her own series “Kendra” and recently “Kendra Sells Hollywood”. The Girls Next Door Channel offers 88 episodes of seasons 1-6 from the pop culture hit show as well as its two spin-off shows, including 35 episodes of Kendra, seasons 1-4 and 18 episodes of Holly’s World, seasons 1-2.
“XUMO currently features 40 single series channels that drove over 15 percent of total hours streamed in Q1 2022 alone, and represents an important, fast-growing category on our service,” noted Stefan Van Engen, SVP of programming and partnerships at XUMO. “Delivering more exclusive content with single series channels like these, helps us to continue delighting and engaging millions of our viewers every day with both beloved and well-known TV shows that they can watch for free, available only on XUMO and through our select distribution partners.”
