TiVo’s new streaming player the 4K Stream is now available on the TiVo.com website. The device that will cost $49.99 comes with a 7-day trial of Sling TV and access to the Google Play store designed for TV apps. But the thing that set it apart is an imaginative interface built on TiVo’s approach to content integration that pulls content from multiple places together in one place so that users are not so much looking through services to find what they want as much as looking through categories. Action movies from multiple sources are all found in the same place. The only other device that does anything similar is the Apple TV “TV” app.
Consumers can access live television from SLING TV alongside their favorite streaming video services like Netflix and Prime Video. And with TiVo’s own TiVo+ content catalog, with tons of free streaming channels from Pluto TV, XUMO and other sources there’s less scrolling and more watching.
