Starting next week new Smart TVs using the Xumo operating system will be available available at Target for customers looking for a streamlined Smart TV experience.
The televisions from Hisense, one of the largest TV manufacturers in the world, run a simple operating system that blends free ad-supported programming and premium apps together to offer a simple-to-use system with an affordable price tag.
Xumo’s free ad-supported content and Peacock, both owned by parent company Comcast, are integrated on the home page. Best of all, for customers in an age where content discoverability has become the name of the game, Xumo offers a universal watch list that lets users queue up shows and movies from multiple services all in the same place so that they can avoid having to remember which apps their various favorites appear on.
Hisense was an early launch partner for the brand, which started as a free ad-supported streaming service or “FAST”. After Comcast purchased Xumo and decided to re-brand their smart TV platform “XClass TVs” as Xumo TV, the free streaming service was rebranded as XUMO Play, which anchors the TV experience.
The Target launch is the latest milestone in a year of growth for Xumo TV. Xumo TVs will be available in nearly 8,000 locations across the U.S., spanning nine national and local retailers including Best Buy, BJs, Meijer, Target and Walmart.
