Amazon’s Fire TV platform has overtaken Roku for the first time boasting 50 million active users. This is big news for Amazon which has trailed Roku in active users until now and could give Amazon, even more, say in negotiations with apps and services.
Fire TV products include televisions with the Fire OS built-in, the Fire Cube (a device with a built-in microphone that streams content to TV’s via an HDMI connection and acts as an Amazon Echo speaker at the same time), as well as the ever-present Amazon Fire Sticks which currently offer very affordable 4k and HD experiences.
Fire TV Recently added the HBO Max app and will be compatible with the Spectrum TV app soon.
