People might talk about HBO Max as a cord-cutting solution and it technically can be. For years cable was a totally necessary conduit for HBO, but that changed years ago with the debut of HBO Now, which was available to customers without cable subscriptions. HBO scrapped HBO Now and related app, HBO Go in favor of HBO Max which acts as both a portal for HBO cable subscribers and customers who come to the service directly and do not have a cable provider.
Now, Cox customers can access HBO Max with the company’s Contour streaming player, which is available to customers for customers with Cox Internet Essential or higher packages. The box costs $5.00 per month, so in reality, it is more cost-effective to grab a Roku or Fire TV stick in the long run. But for customers who want to rent a box from their cable company for an extra fee, they will now have access to the app.
Cox is one of a number of providers set up to work with HBO Max as an on-demand app. And the access comes at a great time for action movie fans. The Justice League Snyder cut will hit the small screen soon and be followed by Godzilla Vs Kong at the end of the month. There will likely be a lot of new activations during March if December was any indication.
