New Sports Streamer Gets Name Venu Sports

The proposed collaborative sports offering from Disney, Fox Corp, and Warner Brother Discovery has a name. It will be called Venu Sports. Good. Now we won’t see people call it Spulu anymore. The name checks the boxes. It is four letters long, ends in a vowel and is a nonsense word (even though its obviously venue). This was probably done because you can’t copyright the word “venue”.

The service is being touted as a home to multiple sports including a number of local and ESPN network-based NFL Football games and essentially the entire national NBA lineup among many other entries available via the ESPN family of networks and the Fox Sports family of networks.

It should be noted that the color the group chose for the logo is orange. Kind of like another streaming service that offers itself up as a premier option for sports streaming and is also looking to sue the service out of existence before it launches. That being Fubo. But we will leave the speculating as to whether that was done intentionally to the Internet at large.

“We are excited to officially introduce Venu Sports, a brand that we feel captures the spirit of an all-new streaming home where sports fans outside of the traditional pay TV ecosystem can experience an incredible collection of live sports, all in one place,” Pete Distad, CEO of Venu Sports, said in a statement. “As preparations for the platform continue to accelerate, we are singularly focused on delivering a best-in-class product for our target audience, built from the ground up using the latest technologies to engage and entertain discerning sports fans wanting one-stop access to live games.”

As was the case when it was first announced, the price of the service has yet to be announced.
