Plex, which has long been one of the most popular apps on the Roku platform, has dropped the charge for it channel. Until recently Plex fans had to pay for $4.99 to add the Plex channel to Roku is is the case with a number of other platforms such as Fire TV and Android TV. The price change coincides with the rollout of the updated interface that was previously only for Plex Pass members.

This app change does not affect Plex Pass, the premium program that allows members of the service to see new features ahead of the general public. Often people confuse using plex with a requirement to have Plex Pass, which is not the case.
