Roku To Launch Series About Marvel Vs DC Comics

OK you might have that friend who loves that independent comic and says it’s the best thing ever published. And I know that there is tons of manga and many other comic imprints as evidenced by some of the things that have been uncovered and turned into original series like Amazons The Boys. But when it comes to the comic book world two names have dominated the scene for almost 80 years. Those companies are DC and Marvel comics. Both companies have delivered numerous beloved characters like Superman, Spider-Man, Batman, Captain America.

Just watch the upcoming Spider Man movie make $1 Billion dollars and try to tell me that marvel comics has not made a gigantic impact on the popular culture of the world and then argue that the greatest athletes in the country being held as superman from Shaquille O’Neal to Cam Newton doesn’t also reflect this. A new Roku original series Slugfest, will address the rivalry between the two great comic publishing giants.

The 10 part documentary is executive produced by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo. Mr. comic books himself, Kevin Smith narrates the series. Don Argott and Sheena M. Joyce served as directors. Producers include Todd Makurath, Peter Rieveschl, Nick Gilhool and Jen Casey. The series was created in partnership with AGBO.

“Audiences will leave “Slugfest” with a whole new of understanding of how the rivalry between two creative powerhouses shaped the iconic storylines and characters that fans around the world have come to know and love,” Anthony Russo, Joe Russo. We’re thrilled to partner with The Roku Channel to unpack the fascinating, but untold, history behind the most well-known competition in comics.”

Roku promises that each episode dives into the unique story from the companies rich and intermingled history that’s created a world-wide superhero phenomenon.
