Deadline reported Paul Scheer will add his voice over talents to the new animated Star Trek based comedy “Star Trek Lower Decks. The show, which is about all of the action happening beyond the normal perspective of the captain and bridge crew will be the latest Trek based show on CBS All-Access. Sheer will be a recurring guest on the show and play a character named Lt. Commander Andy Billups.
If you are having trouble imagining the idea of the show, think about when say Captain Kirk yells to Scottie that he needs more power and Scottie tells him it is impossible but makes it happen anyway. That is the job of the crew on the lower deck. This means Sheer and his mates are not likely to go to the surface with obviously expendable members of the crew like the captain, first officer and chief medical officer. Because while you can easily replace the captain and his second in command, imagine how hard it would be to replace the guy tightening bolts.
The new show will start streaming August 6.
