The NFL Future Is In Streaming – The Streaming Advisor

The NFL Future Is In Streaming

The NFL has announced a new slate of TV deals and it should be no surprise that streaming will play a central role in its plans. In the next couple of years, games will appear on Tubi. Amazon will be the exclusive home of Thursday Night Football. The service has been playing the NFL Network broadcast of the games through its prime app and Fire TV devices but according to an NFL representative, this will change as well.

“Amazon will be producing their own games and they will bring and new and interesting ways” to doing so, says Hans Schroeder, chief operating officer of NFL Media, during a call with media Thursday.

Patriots owner Robert craft described streaming as part of “what we all know will be the future form of content distribution.”

Breakdown of new deal’s impact on streaming below:

ESPN+
ESPN is not left out of the equation either with agreements to stream games through its growing ESPN+. As part of its agreement, ESPN+ will be able to stream one International Series game on an exclusive national basis every season and simulcast all ABC and ESPN games.

Paramount+
ViacomCBS has also made sure that NFL games will be available on Paramount+.

Amazon
Prime will become the exclusive home to Thursday Night Football for ten years starting in 2023.

Tubi
Will Be an optional TV partner for Fox’s broadcasts

Peacock
Will stream Sunday Night Football which also airs on NBC. Peacock will also have exclusive games.

In general, this is a big win for streaming users, and will likely push the rest of the public to adopt new methods of watching outside of the traditional broadcast model which will still be going strong with games on FOX, CBS and NBC as well as two Superbowls on ABC.
