We told you it was nothing personal. YouTube will be adding access to YouTube TV on Vizio TVs starting with their 2020 models in a move that further simplifies access to YouTube’s cable replacement option.
The first platform where this took place was on Roku which had recently gotten into with YouTube over it’s TV streaming service. This led to YouTube TV being removed from Roku devices. When YouTube made the move to add access to its TV service through the traditional YouTube app many people thought it was an outright reaction to Roku. We surmised that it is just Google’s next big move and the Vizio addition so shortly after feels like it confirmed what we thought in the first place.
An important note there for anybody who wishes to cast YouTube TV via the YouTube app. You will have to sign up for the service via something else besides your Vizio TV or Roku. This is not difficult as you can use a computer or phone or tablet but you will have to do this before accessing YouTube TV via the YouTube app.
Expect to see this capability continue to spread throughout all streaming platforms.
