According to eMarketer, Hulu is now the second most popular paid streaming service in the US. The firm posted numbers from a recent study that shows Hulu has 26.8 million subscribers overall as well as 2 million subscribers to its live TV service which bundles in the on-demand streaming option in along with around 50 cable channels. Right behind Hulu is Amazon with 26 million subs but both are way ahead of the fourth place service HBO Now with only 5 million paying customers.
The information comes as Hulu is about to be fully under the control of Disney, thanks to an agreement between the house of mouse and Comcast. The deal sets in motion the ability for Disney to wield incredible power in the streaming realm with its upcoming Disney+ service combined with a rising juggernaut in Hulu.
