Philo On Fire TV and Apple TV Important Step For Future Growth

CNET is reporting that Philo, the latest live streaming option for cord cutters will be expanding its presence to Fire TV and Apple TV. Development on the new platforms will commence this summer.

Growth is Good

This is good news for streaming fans as it indicates that Philo is committed to building out the service and investing in the future. It was logical to start with Roku over other platforms.because of Roku’s market penetration both in set-top boxes and as a smart TV OS it allowed the service on the most OTT screens possible.

Other platforms could offer new ways to navigate and experience the service as Apple and Amazon have different standards for the look and feel of their apps. If Philo where to work its way into Amazon Channels. If it were to do so it would put Philo on every single platform that has an Amazon app.

Apple TV could also provide a similar boost. It’s “TV” app basically encourages people to explore services when they click on selections. Choose a title and you will get choices like “watch on Hulu, NBC App etc.” Philo’s support of TV everywhere apps could also come in handy as a promotional tool. Most important thing it can do is make sure the apps are ready to go before the 2018 fall season and holiday buying kicks off. People will be looking into new options and may see Philo as just what they were looking for.
